There are so many reasons you should get pizza this Sunday. I'll give you a few!

Carnival's about to go down and you are going to be hungry and not know where to find food. Then you remember you stocked your leftover Pizza D I put in your fridge and freezer!

seriously, plastic wrapped slice in your backpack while walking around works really well. you'll be the hit of any party.

We are going to be closed Thursday February 16th and Sunday February 19th so that we can have a good time over the big weekend, so now is your time to stock up.

SPECIALS:

1. GREG AND MIKE'S HOMEMADE MEATBALL pie! The secret recipe of beef and pork are rolled out one at a time by yours truly. You can add CARAMELIZED ONIONS to your meatball pizza as a special treat. Fresh mozz on here is highly recommended.

1. KALE'S back in season and we've got some local delicious rainbow lacinato kale! Inspired by our trip to Paulie Gee's in NY we'll be doing a SPICY LOCAL MARINATED KALE pie on which you can add HOT SOPPRESSATA (a fancy pepperoni). The kale cooks on the pie and crisps up for a nice texture and then is showered in parm.

SALAD SPECIAL: CHOPPED CAESAR SALAD. This salad is delicious. We're making a killer homemade dressing, w/ an italian anchovy base, lots of parm and some secret ingredients tossed on chopped romaine. Thinly sliced red onion, GARLIC KNOT CROUTONS, and grated parm will top it off. Add marinated italian anchovies for an extra zing.

OLIVE TAPENADE, CAULIFLOWER, BROCCOLI & PEPPERONI ROLLS!! If you've never tried a roll, its our dough flattened out, layered with cheese and either olive tapenade, sauteed broccoli or pepperoni and then rolled up and sliced and baked off until crispy. It's definitely a good time.

Vegans - We've heard your requests and now PD is now proud to carry Daiya Vegan, Soy-free Mozzarella to add onto your pie! Just ask when you call and we'll be happy to substitute!

SPECIALS:

1. CAULIFLOWER & BALSAMIC RED ONION. Cauliflower on a pizza? Yes. Try it. The cauliflower is deliciously savory with a little bit of a kick and we saute the onions and cook down balsamic on top to glaze them. We definitely recommend adding spanish boquerones (top of the line, vinegar marinated anchovies) to this one.

2. One of our newest pies is PIZZA ALL'AMATRICIANA! Amatriciana is a classic Roman pasta sauce that happens to be Mike's favorite. Instead of making a sauce that cooks for hours and then cooks on the pizza, we're taking a fresh approach by creating a sauce that comes together and cooks right on the pie! We're cooking down onions and garlic in drippings from rendered GUANCIALE (straight from the amazingSalumeria Biellese in NYC) with a lot of crushed red pepper and mixing that in with our regular homemade pizza sauce. We put that on, grate PARMIGIANO REGGIANO on top of the sauce, and covered it in mozzarella, topping it off with crispy pieces of GUANCIALE and some red onions for some crunch. It all melds into a rich, porky, cheesy, spicy but refined pizza that is a new favorite around our kitchen!

1. PEPPADEW (sweet & spicy pickled pepper) & FRESH HOLLYGROVE ARUGULA pizza. The pie is baked with peppadews and then the arugula (grown locally at Hollygrove Market & Farm) is made into a salad with oil, lemon, and parmesan topped post bake to wilt it slightly atop the pie. Stein's Deli hooked us up with some legit PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA as an add on.

3. We have a very limited quantity our HAWAIIAN PIE which is a cheese pizza topped with chunks of PINEAPPLE that we're' marinating in a SRIRACHA (you know the rooster hot sauce) OIL for just the right kick and slices of smoky NUESKE'S HAM.

SALAD SPECIAL: We're making a super seasonal and local salad with delicious HOLLYGROVE ARUGULA and local BLOOD ORANGES with a KALAMATA OLIVE and FENNEL VINAIGRETTE. It will be refreshingly delicious! By the way, these are actually the best blood oranges you will ever taste. There is no exaggeration there.

Broccoli raab also goes by rapini and what we can tell you is that its a pretty robust, slightly bitter green that really doesn't have too much to do with broccoli. We saute it with tons of garlic in the pancetta (unsmoked italian bacon) drippings. We'll mix this all in with some of our MARINARA, PARMESANO REGGIANO, PECORINO ROMANO, and MOZZARELLA. Best of all we'll give you a giant portion! Eat up.

SPECIALS:

Our first special is the WHITE PIE. There's no sauce on it. It's vegetarian. It's delicious. It's a classic and it can be yours. Sauteed spinach folded into ricotta spread about the pie, a little mozzarella and cherry tomatoes! We recommend adding kalamata olives, fresh mozz and/or peppadews.

Our second is BROCCOLI RAAB and PANCETTA. We get a lot of questions as to what broccoli raab is. It also goes by the name rapini and what we can tell you is that its a pretty robust, slightly bitter green that really doesn't have too much to do with broccoli. We saute it with tons of garlic in the pancetta (unsmoked italian bacon) drippings. New addition to the raab pie are peppadews (pickled spicy, sweet peppers) if you want em!!

This Thursday will be the last night of PD for 2011.

Stein's Deli hooked us up with some legit PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA as an add on.

Our first will be VODKA SAUCE with SUNDRIED TOMATOES & ROASTED GARLIC which many of you have seen out there before. VODKA SAUCE is a spicy, buttery, and creamy tomato sauce topped with roasted garlic and sundried tomatoes. You can add PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA to round out the pie really nicely.

SPECIALS:

KALE'S back in season and we've got some local delicious rainbow lacinato kale! Inspired by our trip to Paulie Gee's in NY we'll be doing a SPICY LOCAL MARINATED KALE pie on which you can add HOT SOPPRESSATA (a fancy pepperoni). The kale cooks on the pie and crisps up for a nice texture and then is showered in parm.

Our second special is HOT COPPA, SUN-DRIED TOMATOES and CARAMELIZED ONIONS. Coppa is cured pork shoulder and it plays really nicely with the tart sundried tomatoes and sweetness of the the caramelized onions. You can add KALAMATA OLIVES to that to make it even more awesome.

MAC & CHEESE: Sometimes we make a tray of Mac and Cheese. It is always delicious. This one is a little idea we came up with before Greg and Mike were PD and just good ol roomies. It's a PIMENTON ROASTED CAULIFLOWER, BACON MAC. Smoked Paprika & Smoked Meat w/ creamy cauliflower. It's not over the top but it's pretty close and it's a LARGE portion.

Our newest pizza (which we only will have about 10 pies worth of) is PIZZA ALL'AMATRICIANA! Amatriciana is a classic Roman pasta sauce that happens to be Mike's favorite. Instead of making a sauce that cooks for hours and then cooks on the pizza, we're taking a fresh approach by creating a sauce that comes together and cooks right on the pie! We're cooking down onions and garlic in drippings from rendered GUANCIALE (straight from the amazingSalumeria Biellese in NYC) with a lot of crushed red pepper and mixing that in with our regular homemade pizza sauce. We put that on, grate PARMIGIANO REGGIANO on top of the sauce, and covered it in mozzarella, topping it off with crispy pieces of GUANCIALE and some red onions for some crunch. It all melds into a rich, porky, cheesy, spicy but refined pizza that is a new favorite around our kitchen!

Our first special is our ROSEMARY POTATO pie. A lot of people think potatoes on a pizza doesn't make sense but we're here to tell you it does. It's not something we invented; we're stealing it from Rome where it's a traditional pizza but giving it our own twist. We thinly slice potatoes, and marinate them in garlic thyme oil. We spread a spicy bechamel sauce (cream sauce flecked with crushed red pepper) over the pie, layer on the potatoes, sprinkle some rosemary, sliced red onions, and a bit of mozzarella and bake it. It's very delicate and balanced. You can add thin slices of HOT COPPA (cured pork shoulder) to the pie as well.

It's a SAINTS bye week. Po-boy fest is this Sunday. Fringe fest. But think about your dinner plans... PIZZA, right!!!!? WE WILL STILL OPEN AT 4PM THIS SUNDAY! Act now, because we will be closed next Thursday 11/24 & 11/27 and Sunday for a little Thanksgiving and vacation action.

So suit up because we've got some awesome specials, we're trying out a limited edition test pizza (pickled pie) and a new roll (olive) and have an awesome arugula salad!

SPECIALS:

Our first special is maybe Mike's favorite pie, GARLIC SAUTEED MUSHROOM & PANCETTA. We render out the pancetta (italian unsmoked bacon) and saute down white and portobello mushrooms in lots of onion and garlic and the drippings to pack them with flavor.

Our next is CAULIFLOWER & BALSAMIC RED ONION. Cauliflower on a pizza? Yes. Try it. The cauliflower is deliciously savory with a little bit of a kick and we saute the onions and cook down balsamic on top to glaze them. We definitely recommend adding spanish boquerones (top of the line anchovies) to this one.

Our final (which is a test pie, so it's limited edition) is a HOUSE PICKLE PIZZA. We've pickled our own RED ONIONS and JALAPENOS. We're going to put them on top of a cheese pie. It's really great!

SALAD SPECIAL: We have peppery, spicy arugula grown locally at the Hollygrove Market and Farm and dress it with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, garlic thyme olive oil and shaved parmigiano reggiano. It is classically delicious.

We have only a handful of our newest special: PORCHETTA, PROVOLONE, AND PICKLED RED ONION PIE!! Porchetta is an awesome italian pig roast. For our version we're slow roasting pork shoulder with tons of fresh thyme, rosemary, and sage and garlic over some onion, carrots, celery, and fennel. We're then shaving off slices and marinating them in a gravy of pan juices and the veggies we cooked it with. The pork's gonna go on the pizza with a bechamel (white sauce) made with aged provolone cheese, a bit of mozzarella and we're going to top it off with some pickled red onions to cut the richness. It is a white pie so there's no red sauce. It's an awesome fall pizza!

Our first special is brand new!! It's a PORCHETTA, PROVOLONE, AND PICKLED RED ONION PIE!! Porchetta is an awesome italian pig roast. SPECIALS: KALE'S back in season and we've got some local delicious rainbow lacinato kale! Inspired by our trip to Paulie Gee's in NY we'll be doing a SPICY LOCAL MARINATED KALE pie on which you can add HOT SOPPRESSATA (a fancy pepperoni). The kale cooks on the pie and crisps up for a nice texture and then is showered in parm. Fresh out the PD labs we'll be debuting our HAWAIIAN PIE which is a cheese pizza topped with chunks of PINEAPPLE that we're' marinating in a SRIRACHA (you know the rooster hot sauce) OIL for just the right kick and slices of smoky NUESKE'S HAM. So here's a scary story. Last night, while Greg and Mike were on the way home, they stopped to pickup chinese food. At this point the pay as you go, pizza delicious cell phone must've fallen out of the car. Their searches this morning turned up nothing and upon calling the phone to find where it was got a "hello". The person on the other end of the line hung up and then Greg texted to see if the person would respond. An arrangement was worked out in which Mike was dropped off with an undisclosed amount of money, to meet a man in a black backwards hat and black tanktop in the corner of Jackson Square while Greg waited in the car as backup. Tensions were at a peak. The deal went off without a hitch and luckily everyone will be able to order pizza this Sunday without a problem even if we are now getting a bunch of random text messages.

ANNOUNCEMENT: From now on Sundays, when there is a Saints day game (this Sunday included), we will be open starting at 4pm! That means by the time you get down here, we'll already be slinging pies. Now you can pass out early and well fed!

SPECIALS: Our first special is GREG AND MIKE'S HOMEMADE MEATBALL pie! The secret recipe of beef and pork are rolled out one at a time by yours truly. You can add CARAMELIZED ONIONS to your meatball pizza as a special treat. Our second is a world premiere: EGGPLANT PARM PIE. Thank you Sharon Stone. As previously announced, Pizza Delicious is looking to evolve into a fulltime pizzeria . While this news may have been officially revealed only recently, we have already been at this since the beginning of the year. Like any good politicians, we’d like to field some of the more recent questions we’ve been receiving with answers that are satisfactory in their content but vague enough as to not set expectations too high. We’ll start with that guy, in the red beanie…

Q: Is it true that Pizza Delicious is looking to move out of the Bywater and into St. Bernard Parish?

A: While, one of us may have taught high school at Chalmette High for a year (true story), we are looking at a location that is only a few blocks away from our current spot, in Bywater. Yes m’aam, you in the back right corner with the fabulous blouse..

Q: Thank you. I’m a long time eater of your pizza, in fact I’d say I’ve eaten Pizza Delicious every day since you’ve been open. Will you be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner so that I can get fresh pizza everyday of the week?

A: I’m glad you asked and thanks for your support. We’re thinking 6 days a week is going to be a little bit easier on us and on your digestive system. Lunch and Dinner. Make sure to pick up your customer loyalty totebag on the way out though. Okay, youngster in the front…

Q: What’s up with your toppings? You guys have been slacking on making new pies. You used to be my idols and now I’m not so sure..

A: For those of you who didn’t hear, junior asked about why we haven’t been making new kinds of pizza. This whole growing into a bigger business thing has been super challenging and sometimes creating new Pizzas unfortunately creep to the back of our list. But no worries, we’re giving our creative juices a little shot of adrenaline and we’re working on crafting some new and exciting pizza toppings to throw into the mix along with some other extras. Last week we introduced a Local Autumn Salad with mizuna, golden frill an ruby streak greens, homemade radish pickles, a caramelized shallot vinaigrette and some parmesan. It was awesome. And for this week’s trick we introduce to you the Eggplant Parm pizza. Check out a pic of an early prototype. Yes, we breaded eggplant and we’re putting it on a pizza.

Thinly sliced red onion, GARLIC KNOT CROUTONS, and grated parm will top it off. Add marinated italian anchovies for an extra zing.

Starting this Sunday we will be open starting one hour earlier, at 4PM on Saints Sunday Gamedays! This way you can get your pizza starting right after the game!

SPECIALS: Our first special is our ROSEMARY POTATO pie. A lot of people think potatoes on a pizza doesn't make sense but we're here to tell you it does. It's not something we invented; we're stealing it from Rome where it's a traditional pizza but giving it our own twist. We thinly slice potatoes, and marinate them in garlic thyme oil. We spread a spicy bechamel sauce (cream sauce flecked with crushed red pepper) over the pie, layer on the potatoes, sprinkle some rosemary, sliced red onions, and a bit of mozzarella and bake it. It's very delicate and balanced. You can add thin slices of PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA (delicious cured pork shoulder) to the pie as well. Our second special is HOT COPPA, SUN-DRIED TOMATOES and CARAMELIZED ONIONS. Coppa is cured pork shoulder and it plays really nicely with the tart sundried tomatoes and sweetness of the the caramelized onions. You can add kalamata olives to that to make it even more awesome.

SALAD SPECIAL: We have perppery, spicy arugula grown locally at the Hollygrove Market and Farm and dress it with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, garlic thyme olive oil and shaved parmigiano reggiano. It is classically delicious.
